China Trade Week kicks off in Nairobi

(MENAFN) The 10th edition of China Trade Week officially opened Tuesday in Nairobi, highlighting the growing economic ties between China and Kenya.

The three-day exhibition features over 100 companies, including 88 from China, showcasing a wide range of products such as building materials, solar energy solutions, and agricultural processing machinery.

James Mureu, chairman of Kenya’s state-run Micro and Small Enterprises Authority, said the event plays a key role in connecting Chinese manufacturers with business owners from across East Africa. “The trade show is an avenue to provide access to affordable and appropriate technologies to help in Kenya's industrialization agenda,” he stated.

David Wang, chairman of MIE Group, the event’s organizer, noted that China Trade Week was launched to serve as a platform for creating opportunities between Chinese and African businesses. He added that over the past decade, the event has hosted more than 2,000 exhibitors and attracted tens of thousands of attendees, contributing to the development of several local industries.
